19th Castlebar Open

The 19th Castlebar Open Racquetball Tournament will be  held on Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st March. There will be competitions in all grades from Novice to Open for both men and women. Closing date for entries will be Sunday 14th March. You can enter online at here .The following divisions are offered -

Team League 2010

The Annual Team League will begin this week with six teams divided into two pools. After the initial matches in each pool teams will be seeded for the knock out stages. There are six players on each team and each player will play each player on the same line. Click on the link for the fixtures

Castlebar Open 2010

The Castlebar Open Racquetball Championships will be held on Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st March in An Sportlann and St Geralds College. There will be competitions in skill divisions ranging from adavanced to beginner for both men and women in both singles and doubles. Entry forms will be available shortly.

 

Majella Haverty wins at Moylagh, Co Meath

At the 15th Moylagh Open held in Co Meath, Majella Haverty won her 3rd Womens Opens Singles event when she defeated former National Champion, Susan Farrell from Arklow.

In the Womens Doubles, Majella partnered Katie Kenny to defeat Bernie Comerford(Kilkenny) and Donna Ryder(Newport).

Team League 2010

The Annual Team League Competition will get underway in February. The competition will consist of teams of 5 or 6 players and there will be an equal amount of skill divisions.

You can enter by signing up at the courts in An Sportlann or by entering online through this website. Closing date for entries is Friday 5th of February. Beginners Welcome.

Winter Competition

The Winter Competion will get underway next week. The first matches will be played starting on Monday 11th January. This competition is a double eliminator with first round losers going into the Plate section. Check the fixtures page on this site for match times or click the links below.

Majella Haverty at World Junior Championships

The 21st World Junior Championships are being held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from 15th - 20th December.

One member of our club, Majella Haverty is competiting as part of the 17 strong Irish Junior Team. Seventeen Countries and a total of 238 athletes are taking part in this years event

Christmas Competition

The Christmas Competition will be a knock out competition in various skill divisions. First round loser will go into a plate competion ensuring all competitors will have at least two matches.

Autumn Competition Semi Finals & Finals

The semi finals of the Autumn Competition will take place on Monday 7th 7 Tuesday 8th of December in An Sportlann.

All outstanding matches in the round robin must be played by Thursday 3rd December.

Autumn Competition RULES

1. LENSED EYEWEAR COMPULSORY

2. Matches 2 games to 15 points- tie breaker if necessary to 11 points

3. Matches to be played on or before the scheduled dates –

IF YOU CAN`T FULFILL A FIXTURE PLEASE INFORM YOUR OPPONENT

4. All first round matches to be played by Friday 27th November

5. Top two players in each section qualify for Semi Finals

6. Winning a match 2-0 will earn you 2 points. A 2-1 result will give the winner 2 points and the loser 1 point.

7. Where ties exist for place in semi finals – the place will be decided on (1) the result of the earlier head to head match (2) count back of games won

8. Winner must fill in result on fixture sheet
