The New Year Doubles Tournament for the Mick Jenning Memorial Cup will be played in An Sportlann on Sunday 5th January 2014

An image of the drawshhet is on the homepage of the website with times. Ther will be consolation matches for 1st & 2nd round losers.

Castlebar Racquetball Club will begin the new season with the annual Autumn Round Robin competition which will be held in An Sportlann. The competition will have 4 skill divisions and will also include a division for beginners and those taking up the sport for the first time.
Racquetball is ideal indoor winter sports to keep you fit in an enjoyable and competitive way.
There are 2 courts in An Sportlann available for bookings and De La Salle Community Sports Centre has one court available for bookings also. The equipment required to play is  a racquetball racquet, ball and safety glasses to protect your eyes.  For more information  telephone 087 9234514.

Junior Coaching

Castlebar Racquetball Club will begin junior coaching in An Sportlann on next Thursday evening  Oct 4th at 7pm. The coaching sessions are open to boys and girls from 8 years old and will continue each Thursday evening at the same time.
Racquets and safety glasses are provided.

Help Required

The club`s annual church gate collection will be held on Satuday 24th (7pm) & Sunday 25th August (8.30am, 10.30am & 12 noon).

Help is required from club members to man collections points on these dates.

 

 

 

Wedding Bells!

Wedding bells will ring out in Castlebar tomorrow, 3rd August when one of our leading players  Niamh O`Neill  ties the knot . Niamh is a longtime member of our club and also coaches our junior racquetball athletes.

Johnny Burke v Bernie Burke 6.15pm

Niamh O`Neill v Beth Mitten 7pm

Brian Flannery v Kenneth Moran 7pm

Michael Burke v Mick Gavin 7.45pm

Padraic Ryder v David Cunningham 7.45pm

 

Matches must be played on or before Friday 20th - Any match not played will be forfeited and points awarded to opposing team.

Awards presented afterwards including awards for Autumn Competition and Winter League

All Ireland Title for Beth

Beth Mitten won the Womens C Singles title at the All Ireland Championships played in Kingscourt. She defeated Avril Phelan from Galmoy in Co Kilkenny in the final.

Katie Kenny won silver in the Womens Open Singles. She was defeated by Aisling Hickey from Tipperary in the final. This was Katie`s first ever Womens Open Singles Final. Majella Haverty was defeated in the semi final of the same event, also by Hickey.

 

All set for 22nd Castlebar Open

Over 45 players from around the country will compete in the 22nd Castlebar Open Racquetball Tournament which takes on Saturday & Sunday. 

Play will begin at 10am on Saturday morning and the courts in An Sportlann and St Geralds College continuing all day Saturday with the semi finals and finals in all divisions on Sunday. Starting times for players are on the Racquetball Ireland website
